Pete Kirby’s Professional History
Peter Kirby FBDO, CL has been involved with optics since 1971 when he qualified with City College, London as a Dispensing Optician.
At that time, he worked for Clifford Brown (Dolland & Aitchison) in Redhill/Putney and moved to Nottingham in 1973 for a position with Brookes & Wardman.
Gaining experience from that move, Peter went back to D & A as Manager of the Northampton practice and from there, in 1978, he moved to Leicester to join Geoffrey Smith at Henry Smith & Hamylton to develop up that group of practices.
Chapman & Partners Ophthalmic Opticians have been established for some considerable time where they opened in Leicester in 1983 and expanded into the Market Place in November 1984 when it became an independent practice.
Peter Kirby bought the practice in 1991 and has exercised his skill and experience to their best advantage. Increasing demand for Contact Lenses in the 1990’s gave Peter the opportunity to qualify as a Contact Lens Practitioner, and provide a complete contact lens service to our patients.
Together with our very loyal team of two ophthalmic opticians, a dispensing optician, a technician, 2 receptionists and the ancillary staff, Peter has continued to provide a complete ophthalmic service to Leicester and environs.
